DIY Batana & Ogirisi Cream: Nourishing Hair & Skin Butter (All-Natural Recipe)

DIY Batana & Ogirisi Cream (Hair & Body)

Batana oil is well known for repairing damaged hair and deeply moisturizing the skin. Ogirisi (Newbouldia laevis), a traditional African plant, is loved for its soothing and healing benefits. When combined, they create a rich, all-natural cream that works beautifully for both hair and body.

This DIY recipe allows you to make either a hydrating body cream or a restorative hair butter — simply by choosing whether or not to add water or aloe vera gel.

✨ Ingredients (Makes approx. 100ml)

  • Batana Oil – 2–3 tbsp (deeply nourishing)
    Use Huked Premium Batana Oil
  • Ogirisi-infused oil or extract – 1 tbsp (calms and restores)
  • Shea Butter – 3 tbsp (moisturising base)
Shop Pure Organic Shea Butter from Huked
  • Cocoa or Mango Butter – 2 tbsp (adds thickness and creaminess)
  • Beeswax or Emulsifying Wax – 1 tbsp (binds the cream)
  • Distilled Water or Aloe Vera Gel – 4 tbsp (only if making a body cream)
  • Vitamin E Oil – ½ tsp (antioxidant + extends shelf life)
    Explore Huked Vitamin E Oil
  • Essential Oils (optional) – lavender, frankincense, or peppermint

🥣 How to Make It

Step 1 – Prepare Ogirisi Oil (If Not Already Made)

  1. Dry Ogirisi leaves and lightly crush them.
  2. Gently heat in a carrier oil (olive or coconut) for 30–40 minutes.
  3. Strain and store the infused oil.

Step 2 – Melt the Base

In a double boiler, gently melt the shea butter, cocoa or mango butter, beeswax, and Batana oil together until fully liquid.

Step 3 – Choose Your Cream Type

👉 Body Cream (Light & Fast-Absorbing)

  • Remove melted mixture from heat.
  • Slowly whisk in distilled water or aloe vera gel.
  • Add Ogirisi oil, Vitamin E, and essential oils.
  • Blend until smooth and creamy.

👉 Hair Cream / Butter (Rich & Protective)

  • Skip the water or aloe vera.
  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  • Stir in Ogirisi oil, Vitamin E, and essential oils.
  • Whip with a hand mixer for a fluffy texture (optional).

🫙 Storage & Shelf Life

  • Store in a clean, airtight glass jar.
  • Body cream: lasts 2–3 months (refrigeration extends shelf life).
  • Hair cream: lasts up to 6 months (oil-based).

🌟 How to Use

As a Body Cream: Apply to dry areas, scars, stretch marks, or rough skin for deep nourishment and softness.

As a Hair Cream: Massage into the scalp, smooth over dry ends, or use overnight as a deep repair treatment for shine and strength.

⚡ One recipe, two results: A hydrating body cream or a restorative hair butter — all depending on whether you add water or aloe.
